Dating back to at least the 1980s, Jens Binderup Jensen volunteered with Boy Scout troops and church youth groups around Metro Vancouver, a lawsuit alleges, providing him access to kids attending day camps and field trips, even overnight outings, some of which took them across the U.S. border into Washington state. Jensen pleaded guilty in provincial court in Langley in 1994, at the age of 47, to 11 counts of sexual assaulting young boys over many years, local media reported at the time. Three more accusers testified against R. Kelly before prosecutors rested their case on Tuesday during the third week of the singer’s federal trial in Chicago. In his latest trial, Kelly is accused of producing videos of child sexual abuse and attempting to recover footage potentially proving he sexually abused underage victims. Two of them, “Pauline” and “Tracy,” were protected by pseudonyms as they recounted their allegations.

The former youth protection director for the Boy Scouts of America said Tuesday the organization is not doing enough to protect children from sexual abuse and is still trying to maintain a veil of secrecy over decades of past abuse. In a speech at the National Press Club, Michael Johnson urged Congress to investigate the BSA’s efforts to cover-up decades of past abuse, as well as the dangers he said the organization still poses to children. “The Boy Scouts of America is not safe for kids. It is safer, but it is not safe for kids,” he said.

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has kept a list of men, today numbering in the thousands, who have been banned from scouting for real or alleged sexual misconduct.  William Sheehan was one in Southwest Florida.
